Ten Popular Books I Didn’t Like

A weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is… Unpopular Bookish Opinions

These are ten books with a ridiculously high amount of ratings and an average of over 4.0 stars on Goodreads that just didn’t work for me.

#3- Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

    1. I though the movie was cute and I thought the book was okay-ish, I just didn’t fall in love with like most reviews I saw.

    1. When I first started reading adult romances, this was one of the first ones I read and I remember being shocked at how much people loved it πŸ˜‚

  1. I ahve a few of these on my TBR. I enjoyed To All The Boy’s I’ve Loved Before, but I can see where you’re coming from. Here is my post-https://paigesofbook.blogspot.com/2019/06/top-ten-tuesday-unpopular-bookish.html

    1. I definitely didn’t hate it! It just was kind of slow and nothing unique (but I do know I’m not the majority πŸ˜‚)

  2. I haven’t read any of Colleen Hoover books, but I feel like I wouldn’t relate to any of hers. I’ll definitely have to check it out eventually though and see. I didn’t end up finishing The Selection series (one book left) because I felt like it should have just been a trilogy, but I still liked it. I just started Illuminae though but I can see how not everyone likes it. Nice post!

    1. Yep! It’s that I hated most of these books, they just don’t live up to their rating and hype in my eyes πŸ™‚

    1. I always try to add in books that aren’t super well known or books that aren’t new releases. But I actually don’t have many books that I didn’t like, so I’m happy to say it’s not often πŸ˜€

  3. I was really disappointed by November 9, too. I’ve enjoyed a lot of Colleen Hoover books, but that one really let me down.

Also forgot I’d even read Vain until I saw this post but oh boy did I hate that book!!

    1. I think my fave of hers is Maybe Someday? And November 9 sounded like something I’d like, but pretty early on I realized I was very wrong πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    1. Wow that’s funny. I actually liked the series before it had this total shift in my eyes. Book 1 & 2 are SO different than the rest of the series and those are the ones I liked πŸ˜‚

      1. I mean that’s fair, I think it’s quite common in the fandom that there are those who liked the series more pre-Aelin & those who liked it more post-Aelin.

    1. I think I finished, but I just thought it was kind of a pointless book πŸ˜‚ which sucked cause I do sort of like The Bachelor, but I guess it didn’t translate well.

  4. I do really like “The Selection” for a “guilty pleasure” read, which to me is something I can read without having to exercise brain power. Also, adore TATBILB, and I like Nicola’s more than I thought. However I doubt I’d like the “Illuminae” series. They just don’t sound like “me reads.”

    1. Illuminae was definitely out of my comfort zone as I’m not a huge sci-fi reader. But it sounded unique so I thought I’d give it a try. Ultimately, I thought it was bit boring.
