A weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Top Ten Bookish Things I Want to Quit…
This week I decided to list ten series I’m not planning to finish.
1. The Divergent Series by Veronica Roth
2. The Darkest Minds Series by Alexandra Bracken
3. House of Night Series by P.C. Cast
4. The Selection Series by Kiera Cass
5. Carrier Series by Leigh Fallon
6. Prisoners of Peace by Erin Bow
7. Starbound Series by Amie Kaufman
I haven’t finished the Divergent series either, I got spoiled for the last book and so have kept putting it off because I’m not excited to read a book I’ve been spoiled for.

I haven’t even started any of these yet lol – maybe I’ll just keep it that way 🙂 My TTT

Glad to hear I’m not the only one who didn’t finish the Divergent series. I had to force myself through the second book, and when the third book came out I read about 40 pages and said I was done. Great post!

I’ve been meaning to finish the Divergent series ever since I started it, but from reading the second book I haven’t gotten the want to start the last book! Here’s my TTT: http://wp.me/p6Erc0-2M

Same! Insurgent kinda just made me want to stop the series.

Ohhh, I’m super curious to why you’re not finish a lot of these! I was a bit underwhelmed by The Scorpion Rules but what went wrong for you? (I totally did NOT get the world building. :P) And eggggh, I will never read anything else by PC Cast after I read a few novellas. BIG NOPE. XD
Here’s my TTT!

I wanted to like the Scorpion Rules but I just couldn’t. For me it was mostly the writing and pacing that I couldn’t deal with.

Oh I read/finished the Divergent series and quitting it, I must say, is a good decision. The next books are just.. disappointing. So goes with the Selection. The next two books are actually awesome, The Elite and The One, but the fourth part, The Heir, is just irritating.
By the way here’s mine: http://wp.me/p4ZhSl-hJ. 🙂

Yeah I just couldn’t get into Insurgent so I just stopped. (:

I often don’t finish series and I understand how they sometimes drag on too long.

I’m usually pretty good at it. I’m one of those people who has to know how it ends. But these just didn’t click for me.

We have two series in common this week, The Selection and The Darkest Minds. I have no desire to continue with them!

Yep! The Selection just because I didn’t like that one. But a lot of people have told me that for The Darkest Minds the first book was the best one and the rest just aren’t very good.

I haven’t started The Darkest Minds yet, but it’s sitting on my bookshelf. What didn’t you like about it. Also, I’ve yet to start reading The Scorpion Rules (which I also have) because I’ve read so many terrible reviews. I didn’t like Beautiful Creatures at all. To be honest, there aren’t really any books on here that I think are a must read. I liked Divergent and Insurgent but Allegiant was very hard to get into. This is an interesting list!

Haha, thanks! For The Darkest Minds I just think the hype got to me (I just recently read it too) so I was expecting to be amazed, but it was just okay for me.

I didn’t finish the Divergent series either–not because of the controversy about the ending but because I started reading Allegiant and just didn’t like the prose. I don’t know if the prose suddenly changed or if my tastes did, but that book was a quick DNF.

I know a lot of people weren’t fans of the dual-pov, so you’re not alone!

I’m not planning on continuing the Caster Chronicles either. I read the first one, but I wasn’t interested enough to keep going.

Why the Divergent series? It’s only a trilogy… Not trying to be a hating fangirl, but you should really finish it if you’ve already started! It’s so unexpected and bold.

I wasn’t a big fan of Insurgent, so I didn’t really want to keep going. Also, I know the big surprise and ending of Allegiant so… (:
